Letter From the Publisher

Dear Readers: In this issue of America’s favorite internet magazine for boomers and seniors, I’m proud to announce that we are just getting better with age! Going from strength to strength, we are busy making many enhancements to our publication which will unfold over the coming months. We are happy to be growing and improving our services to you, through expanding the scope of the magazine and the range of professional resources and businesses we can help you get to know. |
For starters, we are delighted to introduce our new Editor, Catherine Kenney, whose first issue is the one you are reading. She has worked previously as journalist and editor, college English professor, arts administrator, grants and technical writer, and non-profit executive. Dr. Kenney holds a Ph.D. in English from Loyola University of Chicago, and has published her own work widely, including two books, The Remarkable Case of Dorothy L. Sayers, which is reviewed in this issue to mark its 20th anniversary in print, and Thurber’s Anatomy of Confusion. She has also written a play about Sayers entitled Dorothy L, which has been produced in England and the U.S., as well as numerous articles, chapters in books, and book reviews. She is proud to be a member of the Society of Midland Authors, a revered Chicago-based group of professional writers started by Harriet Monroe, founder of Poetry magazine.
In addition to her work for us, Kenney currently runs her own consulting firm, Proudfoot Productions, which provides a wide variety of writing and editorial services, specializing in grant writing and the writing of memoir/family histories. Please contact Catherine Kenney with article ideas and submissions.
Next month, we will introduce all our five brand-new staff members. Each has been chosen not only for their own professional expertise, but also because of an intense commitment to enhance the quality of life we all experience during our aging process.
Look for our upcoming issue, with its theme of Positive Aging, on September 1. www.MatureResources.org
The October issue will also launch our very first regional coverage. We have chosen to feature Chicago, sometimes called Chicagoland because of its vast area, not only because it is our publication’s headquarters, but because of its central location in America’s heartland and its rich cultural, educational, and professional/business life. The section will include stories about this great American city, and lots of new connections with its business and professional community.
Enjoy!
