Awakening
The four seasons offer us the opportunity to recognize change as well as honor the laws of the universe. Each season brings a certain quality of energy. Some folks love the crispness of the fall as the leaves turn and days are shorter. Others savor the purity of snow along with the varied activities only the white stuff provides. And then we have those who love the heat of summer and the franticness that seems to coincide with the days of longer light. But springtime is a season that is welcomed by almost everyone. Cherry blossoms, melting snow that feed the rivers, new green growth unfurling from trees, and shrubs alive with vibrant flowers seem to spark something within.
April is the month of new life, rebirth, a bursting forth of dormant life and awakening. It can represent a time for you of personal transformation and acquiring tools that can change your life. If you want to learn a foreign language you most likely sign up for the best system in the marketplace in which to achieve your goal. Well, if you want to be a happier you, get busy this during this meaningful time of year and dig into your toolbox to determine if you're currently using tools that are rusty, barely functioning and inappropriate. This Attitude Doc offers 21st century tools for living an inspired life, 24/7 solely from the quality of your attitude.
I have a few suggestions to awaken each of the four aspects of your nature if you choose to take on the mission. (This subject will be more thoroughly addressed during the four weeks of April in my Life Change Lessons. LCL's are delivered to your desktop every Monday morning after subscribing for them at www.theattitudedoc.com Great way to start your week.)
First, but not necessarily first, is our physical aspect, we can do a spring-cleaning of our house. From the garage to the attic, clean out those closets that are bulging. Clean the windows so you see the beauty of nature. Toss, give away, recycle or relocate for use those items you'll come face to face with during the process. Go for it. Big time. In addition you can do work on your other "house," or your body. Like a cleanse of your liver and gallbladder, or a general overall spring cleanse. Your organs will thank you. Starting out with a simple lemon juice water every morning is so beneficial as a healthy way to start the day.
Next, we have the mental aspect. Of course this relates to your thoughts, which are the seeds of your reality. Be willing to be honest and observe your thoughts as you slip into the month of April. What is the quality of your thinking pattern? Positive? Optimistic? Enthusiastic? Supportive? Or negative, pessimistic, bored and critical? Then ask your self who is in charge of your thoughts? Notice who can do something about them. Have fun with the answers.
The emotional corner is vitally important because many people put their feelings to bed in a deep, dark corner to do everything but awakening them. Trust me, if this is you or someone you know, your body will eventually tell you through physical symptoms that buried feelings never die. Denied feelings don't go away and resisted feelings don't magically disappear. Your liver would love to purge itself of your anger and your lungs of the grief. Discover and tell the truth this spring and be relentless in your search.
Spiritually may be the last on the list but it is what your life is all about. The manner in which you awaken your passion to connect with your purpose will determine the degree of joy you experience in your relationships. It's time to awaken to the truth of who you are not who you think you are. It's time to claim your birthright and get busy supporting others in their search. It's time to be the light in the world that you are-the inspiration that touches people's day and is longed remembered. In the Lion King, Mufasa says to Simba, "Look. Look at who you are. Look at your reflection in the lake. You just forgot who you are."
It takes some effort to wake up. It takes intention and being conscious in every moment. Being conscious of choosing food that is grown with respect*, preparing it with love, then eating slowly for healthful digestion. It takes being absolutely 100% conscious of what you think and feel. It takes being willing to focus on your blessings rather then your endless list of desires.
Isn't it time to look up into that blue sky and feel peace of mind as you smell the freshness of a spring day, feel the breezes blowing the fragrance of the roses around your head, touch the early morning dew on the green grass, hear the flutter of the returning hummingbirds and use your intuition to sense how blessed you are to be alive. Life is a gift--an adventure and an awesome mystery. Wake up!!
