October 2005
Can it already be the start of the last quarter of 2005? Time has certainly flown for us as we work to redevelop our MatureResources.org website… there is much to do but we are pleased with our recent progress and expansion.
As part of our re-org... I am extremely happy to turn the role of Editor-in-Chief over to Kathy Fillmann as she has been a dedicated team player since our online inception two years ago. With her attention to detail and keen interest in reaching out to our readers and business members, Kathy has helped us grow into a much larger endeavor than I ever would have imagined. Congratulations Kathy!
As for me… I will now be concentrating on publicizing our Boomer-to-Senior website locally, regionally and nationally to senior organizations, aging and health care agencies, government organizations, community groups, the media, and every type and size of business whose goal it is to reach the same audience as ours – Boomers to Seniors – those 50 and over.
I will also continue to promote our Business Directory and the enormous value and benefits it provides to our business members and our readers. And… in my spare time, I will put in my “editorial two cents” whenever I can!
Speaking of which, the editorial focus of our Feature Story for this month is “Celebrating Seniors”… Not so many years ago people of middle age and up didn’t discuss their age… it was kept a big secret. Everyone used Jack Benny’s line about being “only 39” and some of us still do! Today, with many people enjoying longer and more active lives, many more of us are proudly declaring our age and seeing it as a cause for celebration.
This month celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month and Columbus Day to honor the explorer who discovered America as well as the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) and Thanksgiving in Canada. It also marks the end of Daylight Saving Time for another year… (sigh) the extension of which we think should be revisited!
October is also National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For those of us who are survivors, it’s truly a time to appreciate ourselves and to celebrate a very personal thanksgiving. Remember to wear your pink ribbons, support your favorite cancer research or cancer care organization, and get a check-up!
Thank you to all of you who write to us. Your positive comments are motivating and greatly appreciated. Don’t forget, if you need assistance, we’re just a click or call away.
Wishing you well!
