The times we live in a very different from what our forefathers ever imagined they would be. It's fair to say that the most impressive part of our evolution as society and of the technology we are using has taken place over the past two hundred years, or even less. No matter how much the human race has changed, basically we are still the same, and some things have definitely stayed the same. As hard as it may be to believe this, there are many professions and occupations that we still see among us and that go back a very, very long time. For those who know little about this occupation, the office of a concierge originates somewhere in the twelfth century. As you can imagine, the responsibilities of a concierge have evolved in time. For instance, in medieval times, the concierge would execute justice as an officer of the King. The beginning of the twentieth century saw the concierge as a caretaker in apartment buildings. However, this phenomenon is now extremely rare, as concierges in apartment buildings have been typically replaced by door-staff.
We can still benefit form the services provided by a concierge in hotels all over the world. In such settings, it is the responsibility of a concierge to assists guests of the hotel with all sorts of tasks. The tasks that a concierge has to perform in a hotel typically include assisting with travel arrangements, arranging for spa services, making reservations at various restaurants, or procuring ticking to various events. A concierge usually has a list of local service providers or merchants that he can rely on when it comes to fulfilling even the strangest requests that a guest might have.
As you can imagine, the concierge services have found their way to the Internet, as well. We are talking about service platforms that are very similar to traditional concierge services. "Electronic concierge' was born as a result of the growing demand that people from all over the world expressed as far as these services were concerned. Errand service and informational services alike can be provided by online concierge companies. The services typically include travel arrangements, dinner reservations, phone calls, informational requests, and so much more.
