Let's Clean the House-THE EASY WAY

I don't know about any of you, but I would love it if I could write a note, set it on the kitchen table when I go to bed at night and awaken to have 'everything' done on my list when I wake up in the morning.

Okay, we all know that it isn't going to happen, but dreams help to make the world a happier place!! At least dreams like this do!

So, I guess that means that I have to get out the gloves, bucket, garbage bags and all the cleaning stuff and get-at-it myself. I sure could think of better things to do on a day like today.

The sun is shining, the weather is the best that it has been in at least two weeks, I have cabin fever and hate the thought of spending it with a mop.

Look what I did to myself; I not only didn't get the work done when the weather was bad but I created some more stress in my life, ruined a completely beautiful day and to top it off now I am getting depressed.

Have you ever felt this way? What did you do about it? I will bet you did what I would 'love' to do; you put on your coat, left this lousy mess behind you and went away and did something that was fun.

Well, don't feel too guilty, you and about a million other people did the same thing. The bad part is that you still have to face it when you get home and it will look ten times worse.

I was the one that stayed home and tackled my mess and now I am finished and the next nice day I will be going out having fun---with no guilt attached. Aren't you ashamed?

That is how we get ourselves further and further behind; we procrastinate and because of that, we make poor decisions. So, how do we correct this little quirk we all have hidden inside of us?

We stop making mountains out of molehills, in other words, we have to learn to take things in smaller pieces instead of looking at the entire job.

Just sit back and think of everything that needs to be thought out and planned when we Spring Clean. The job is so overwhelming that we just 'know it is going to take forever' and we don't want to think about it anymore.

Take that same scenario and look at it in the simplest form:

What is the least amount of work that can be done in a room to make it look and smell fresh?

Now make a list of every room in your home and the easy things you can do to make it better and ---get the job done.

Granted, it's not like a major Spring Housecleaning attempt would be, but it will get you started in the right direction.

Just the look of this clean house, the smell of fresh air circulating around in it and nice feeling it gives you will give you the motivation that you need to really get-it-done on the next cold dreary day and it gives you a great start to Spring Cleaning!
